What is Internet Video Blogging?

It seems that every time I go online someone’s talking about their blog. Though the word itself sounds like something I might utter after a really bad fish sandwich, it’s actually shorthand for “weblog”. An Internet diary, you could say. Unfortunately, the content of most of these blogs aren’t much better than… well, a bad fish sandwich. As if that weren’t bad enough, technology has, of course, found a way to improve upon the idea. Now the web is flooded with the vlog – again, shorthand, this time for “video blog”. And yes, yet again, the content of most of these vlogs aren’t much better than that of a bad fish sandwich.

Okay, okay, so it can’t be all bad, right? The Internet is a medium for communication after all, so it should come as no surprise that people want to communicate. Communication is good when there is something worth communicating. Video blogging is essentially the same thing as standard blogging, except now instead of reading about what our friends had for dinner, now we can actually watch them ramble on about it. Perhaps in ten years, we’ll be able to watch them eat it, live on cam.
